Altamira Gneiss

Altamira is charnockitized gneiss, medium-grained with clear to light grey and light brown small crystals with dark grey and black veining with some tiny red background garnets. It is also considered to be a garnetiferous migmatite of the Precambrian period. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite but in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as a gneiss. During the polishing process a clear epoxy resin filler may be used to fill any micro fissures or tiny pitting however this does not affect the integrity of the stone, it merely provides an even smoother surface finish. This stone is especially good for Countertops, monuments, mosaic, exterior - interior wall and floor applications, fountains, pool and wall capping, stairs, window sills and other design projects. It also called Altamera Granite, Altamira Granite, Altamira Gray Gneiss. Altamira Granite can be processed into Polished, Sawn Cut, Sanded, Rockfaced, Sandblasted, Tumbled and so on.
